Juana Rivera-Vidal,
M.Ed.

Juana Rivera Vidal earned a
B.A. in Education from Northeastern Illinois University and
her Masters from Chicago State University. She completed post graduate work
at Washington State University. She also received her Administration
and Supervision credentials from Chicago State
University. Ms. Vidal worked as a teacher, central office administrator, and as
an elementary and high school principal.
Ms. Vidal began her career as a teacher, working
as a Lead Teacher, Assistant Principal, and Principal of a large
elementary school in Chicago, Illinois before her tenure at Pasco
School District #1 in the State of Washington. As a
Principal in the State of Washington she was responsible for
an Alternative High School and the Director of Migrant Night School.
Upon returning to Illinois she was the Director of Bilingual
and ESL Programs in Waukegan. Subsequently she organized and
opened up a Charter High School under the auspices of the Chicago
Public Schools. Following her tenure at the charter school
she became the principal of Washington High School in Chicago,
Illinois.
During her tenure at Washington High School she was
responsible for a staff of 130 and a student population of 1500; she
developed and articulated a belief system through voice and actions;
established a community of learners by engaging and developing
faculty through coordinated implementation of staff development
activities; and directed the implementation of successful literacy
and mathematics strategies school wide through standards based
instruction.
Her current focus include using curriculum
management and implementation principles, effective instructional
strategies, effective classroom management, and effective parental
involvement as a means to improve the quality of education for all
students.
Ms. Vidal, along with her brother and colleague and
his wife Norma, founded Quality Education Initiatives to continue
advocating for a quality education for all students. In
addition to her activities and responsibilities at Quality Education
Initiatives, Ms. Vidal is President of a LULAC Chapter in
Illinois.
She is able to
continue her involvement with her children and her
grandchildren. She enjoys traveling, reading, fine dining, and
socializing with her friends and
family.
